Project overview
A ground-up civic project for the City of White Rock, currently under construction with Hilson Construction as general contractor. The approximately 1,500 sq. ft. purpose-built structure will house and preserve a historic fire truck, and the scope runs from excavation and concrete through framing, envelope and exterior finishes.
The need
The City of White Rock wanted a dedicated, permanent setting for the long-term display and preservation of a historic fire truck. Rather than adapting an existing space, the City required a purpose-built structure of approximately 1,500 sq. ft., delivered from a bare site through to a finished, weather-tight building with its surrounding sidewalks and irrigated landscaping.

What made it demanding
A ground-up building, even a compact one, brings civil, structural, architectural and site components together on a single program. Site preparation, concrete, framing, envelope and exterior finishes each involve different trades with their own sequencing, and a display structure for a heritage vehicle has to be durable and professionally finished, not simply enclosed.
How Hilson delivered
Hilson is managing the full construction process as general contractor, integrating the civil works, concrete construction, structural framing and building finishes into one coordinated schedule. Close coordination between the civil, structural, architectural and site disciplines keeps each trade’s work aligned with the next, from excavation and rebar through slab and sidewalk pours, framing, insulation, roofing and stucco.
Where the project stands
The project is currently under construction. On completion, the facility will provide a durable and professionally finished environment for the historic fire truck. For municipalities and public agencies, it demonstrates Hilson’s ability to manage ground-up development across multiple trades and disciplines, in addition to its renovation and tenant improvement work.
